By the time you have saved for half the mortgage to put it down, the cost of that home would have cost significantly more than it would if you had put a 'reasonable' deposit and paid on it. Cash depreciates in value

Between me and my husband we've owned more MP3 players over the years than I can count, including Sansas, iRivers, iPods (classic & touch), the Ibiza Rhapsody, etc. But, the last few years I've settled down to one line of players. Why? Because I was happy to discover how well-designed and fun to use the underappreciated (and widely mocked) Zunes are.

a)Dave Ramsey is ok with getting a mortgage as long as it is no more than 25 percent of your take home pay, and no more than a 15 year. He NEVER said rent all your life.

b)He NEVER said walk around with cash for everything. He uses debit just like you and everyone else. However, his wife uses the cash in the envelope thing for groceries and occasionally the odd purchase where they are looking to get a bargain, because it is easier to get a bargain using actual cash.

I'm a "no debt" kind of person myself--at least by philosophy, if not always in practice. I have a mortgage, anyway, but it's not like a lot of people can afford to pay cash for a house (and, as I am one of the canonical "people who shouldn't have gotten a mortgage", I didn't even have a down payment). Hopefully I'll have it paid off in a few years.

Thanks for the information

I am trying to figure out a strategy in order to get back on my financial track.
I will try to get at the library a book about Ramsey.
I need to pay my debts without going nuts (I mean not living)
